Latest News

Our partners, management and staff are excited to announce that the GP Practices in the Holderness Health Alliance; which includes Church View Surgery in Hedon, Eastgate Medical Group in Hornsea, Hedon Group Practice and South Holderness Medical Practice in Withernsea; plan to work towards one merged partnership by late 2018.

Our practices have been successful in working closely together for many months and feel that this is the next natural step in our journey as we work towards achieving

Our Shared Purpose of "working together with integrity to create a resilient future for our patients and practices".

We anticipate that sharing our experienced clinical and administrative teams will ensure that we continue to provide all our patients with the high quality local care and local services which we are passionate about maintaining. Combining the expertise of all four practices should also allow us to access more funding from NHS England, have a stronger voice in how services are delivered locally and improve the patient experience.

The East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group and the local NHS England team fully support our decision which they also feel will help sustain the future of general practice in Holderness.

"The East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group and the local NHS England team support practices coming together to ensure local primary care services can be sustained in to the future and in implementing new models of working together with other health and care partners.  By these practices coming together they will be more resilient in terms of recruiting and retaining crucial staff and working with community, mental health, social care and other services in a more consistent and efficient way"

Patients should be reassured that you can continue to access GP services as you do now. We are also committed to keeping patients informed and involved in our journey and will share regular updates as our plan progresses.

MIU Freedom of Information - Holderness Health Alliance

As 4 Holderness Practices last week, we sent a joint letter to Jonathan Beckerlegge, Chair of the ERYCCG Audit and Integrated Governance Committee. This followed a Freedom of Information (FOI) request we sent to the CCG regarding the Urgent Care Review which has, as you will know been undertaken over the last few months. We remain very concerned at the outcome and the adverse effect on our patients care.

The four Practices signing the letter are

  • Church View Surgery Hedon,

  • Eastgate Medical Practice Hornsea,

  • Hedon Group Practice
  • South Holderness Medical Practice Withernsea

Below is our letter so which shows that we hold the CCG to account and help us get the best outcome for our patients. Our practices serve one of the most rural locations in Yorkshire and have some of the highest health needs nationally. In addition, the area is served by poor transport links and there are significant pockets of severe deprivation.

Our letter is a detailed response and you will note that our overriding concern is that the Gunning Principles have not been followed. We feel that there should be an immediate halt and a review of the whole process prior to irreversible damage to healthcare in our community.

 Dementia Friends

Dementia friend logo In April 2015 a group of Doctors, Nurses and Administration staff from the surgery completed Dementia Friends training.  A Dementia Friend learns a little bit more about what it is like to live with Dementia and then turns that understanding into action.  As recognition of this worthwhile training we were awarded with a certificate by MP Graham Stuart.
